Fibromyalgia Workshop
Fibromyalgia patients can call 1-866-973-6360 to register for the workshop.
The UAB Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology is offering a
monthly educational workshops addressing fibromyalgia. The workshops are
led by UAB rheumatologists and are held in the Auditorium at UAB
Highlands Hospital
The next scheduled workshop will be held
on Thursday, April 9, 2009 from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. UAB Highlands is
located at 1201 11th Avenue South and the Auditorium is on the first
floor.
The Workshop will cover these topics:
What is Fibromyalgia? A review to help participants understand why and
how fibromyalgia develops
Management of Fibromyalgia. Participants will learn about strategies to
manage fibromyalgia including exercise, medications, and
cognitive-behavioral approaches
Questions and Answers. Participants will have the opportunity to ask
questions of the UAB rheumatologist to help manage their fibromyalgia.
Participants will be provided written materials outlining fibromyalgia
management that can be used personally and shared with his or her
primary care physician.
Each workshop is limited to 20 participants, and registrations are
accepted on a first come, first served basis. The fee for participation
in one of these educational workshops is $30 and may be paid by cash or
check when you arrive at the workshop.
